Fitbit and Google Health veteran joins the physician-founded virtual sleep clinic to lead technology as it expands sleep apnea care internationally

NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, October 21, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- BlueSleep, the virtual sleep clinic founded by Dr. Jordan Stern, today announced that Sam Trychin, former Director of Engineering at Google Health, has joined as Chief Technology Officer. His mission is to help BlueSleep bring sleep apnea diagnosis and treatment to millions more people, in the United States and internationally, who remain undiagnosed and untreated.

Nearly one billion people worldwide are estimated to have sleep apnea, including more than 50 million Americans, yet most have never been diagnosed. Trychin will join forces with Dr. Stern and BlueSleep's clinical team to turn the experience of more than 100,000 virtual sleep visits into an automated, phone-based service designed to reach millions. The goal is that anyone with a mobile phone can get care.

Trychin spent nearly 13 years leading engineering at Fitbit and Google. Most recently he was Director of Engineering at Google Health, where his teams rebuilt the Fitbit app into the new Google Health app and launched its AI-driven Health Coach. At Fitbit, as Senior Director of Engineering for Consumer Software, he led work that included Fitbit Premium, sleep features and regulated medical features.

"Wearables have made millions of people aware of how they sleep, and many now come to us because a watch or ring flagged a problem," said Dr. Jordan Stern, Founder and CEO of BlueSleep. "Sam helped build that world. Now he will help us take the next step: getting those people a diagnosis and effective treatment, faster and on an international scale. By bringing the brightest people together with AI, we intend to make that care available to millions."

"I've spent years building technology that tells people how they sleep," said Trychin. "BlueSleep is working on what comes next: helping millions of people get diagnosed and treated, wherever they live. I'm excited to do that alongside a physician-led team that cares for patients every day."

Trychin holds a BA in Computer Science from Brown University.
